Be a DUCK!

Be a DUCK!

Recently someone asked me to explain the vision of the So Now Professional Network for Women.  In actual words their vision statement is....To Create an Influential Network that Welcomes Women to Connect and Support each other While Pursuing their Dreams.  Visually though, I was stumped, until one morning I was eating breakfast and looked out the window and saw an eagle circling the lake.

The determined eagle kept swooping down toward the water. Curious, I rolled over to the window and it was then I noticed why.  There was a group of 15-20 ducks huddled together and the eagle was diving toward them hoping to grab one of them for his breakfast.  Every time the eagle circled around the lake and prepared for another dive, the ducks would pull together, flutter their wings and escape under the surface of the water.

Time after time the same thing. Finally the eagle gave up after about 15 minutes and flew away. What struck me was how committed the ducks were to staying connected and supported by one another. Never once did they even think about leaving the group and going it alone. They knew instinctively they were stronger and more powerful together.

Then it hit me - The ducks were reacting just like the women of the So Now Professional Network for Women! When they face a tough spot they hook onto one another, combine their talents and gifts and together they become unstoppable, wiser and more confident.  So much more than when they go it alone. Just like the group of ducks.

I LOVE IT...I now have the perfect story to help others remember the Vision Statement behind the So Now Professional Network for Women. To put it simply...BE A DUCK!

1 Peter 4:10
"God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another."

Are you Selling Your Dreams Short?

This is YOUR YEAR!
Are you selling your dreams short?

"To make a difference, I truly believe you have to be willing to be uncomfortable, to be willing to share your message with people, and to really put yourself out there." - The Incubated Author by Angela E. Lauria

After I read Lauria's quote, my mind immediately began to reflect on the times in my life that I have sold my dreams short. Each time two of the same things showed up that eventually kept me from pursing my dreams -- the word "uncomfortable" and the phrase "put yourself out there."

When I have stepped away from status quo in order to try something new in the past, I would sometimes find myself in a very uncomfortable space.  And because I didn't like feeling uncomfortable, I would then go running back to status quo.  And when I stayed in that space too long, I would become complacent and uninspired.

Out of necessity, I finally developed a fool-proof process I can now use to help move me through fear and back onto a path of new ideas, daring moves and endless possibilities, I call it my....It's NEVER too Late to Follow my DREAMS plan.

1. List your top two dreams.
2. Visualize how you will feel if you don't achieve your dreams.
3. Visualize how you will feel when you do achieve your dreams.
4. Choose ONE dream to act on NOW.
5. Break down your chosen dream into six parts.
6. Choose one of the six parts to focus on first.
7. Break that part down into 6 smaller parts.
8. Choose one of the smaller parts as your first step and GeT iN MoTiOn!

Are you selling your dreams short?  If so, walk through these eight steps with a new perspective and get re-inspired about your dreams. And then GeT iN MoTiOn!

I would love to hear what steps you use to get back on track with your dreams.

What is your WHY Behind your WHAT?

What is your WHY Behind Your WHAT?

Why do you do what you do?
Why do you want what you want?
What is your why behind your what?
What is the purpose behind your passions?
What is your passion and why do you want it?

Oh my...such great questions!  My beautiful niece, Claire, sent me an article asking these exact questions.  After I read it, I realized if I was truly honest with myself, I didn't immediately know the answers to all of the questions.  So I decided to devise a process that would help me and hopefully others find their WHY behind their WHAT.

1. The first thing I did was walk through a "Values Exercise" and determine what was most important to me.
Through this exercise I was able to figure out my top 10 values in order of importance? What did I find out? My values are: God, husband, happiness, children, financial security, connecting with outdoors, being healed, connecting with people, family watching others succeed, exercise, and success.

2. The second thing I did was reflect and then acknowledge all the specific situations that I was the happiest.  In other words, the moments I was truly living in my passion and doing the things that are most important to me.

What did I discover?  I love spending time in scripture and speaking to God, spending time with my husband and children, writing, inspiring others through speaking, coaching start-up businesses, connecting people with people, being creative, being successful, spending time with friends and experiencing the beauty of the outdoors.

3. The third thing I did was look at each of the above activities and determine why I enjoyed them so much -- the purpose behind my passion! The one common thread I discovered was....CONNECTION. Why Connection? I enjoy connecting people with people, connecting personally with nature, connecting people with their greatness, connecting to stories and connecting with my gifts.  One of my greatest joys is when someone I have met searches deep inside and experiences the ah-ha behind why and how they are uniquely designed by God and why their special gifts are perfect, beautiful and important to the universe.

4. The fourth thing I did was make a few adjustments in what I was currently doing so that my activities matched-up with my WHY.  What did I change?  Professionally, I decided to stop doing activities that didn't center around one of the following:
>> Speaking to groups of women.  Inspiring and encouraging them to meld together and to join forces.  To honor, respect and enjoy their individual uniqueness, gifts and talents and to dance to their unique, beautiful dance each and every day.
>> Spending time with individual coaching clients that are small business owners and/or startups.  Moving them quickly through fears that may be holding them back while showing them how to make money ASAP!
>> Editing and publishing my first mystery novel.
>> Growing the membership of the So Now Network for Professional Women.
5. The final thing I did was breakdown my four focuses into doable steps and then back them up with accountability. I am learning that to be outrageously successful the most important thing I do is to assign deadlines and set up accountability with all of the pieces and parts of each of my goals.  In the past, my biggest roadblock has been procrastination. So I have joined a mastermind group that is teaching me how to set step-by-step mini goals that support my big audacious goal - while at the same time holding me accountable - without exception. I can't wait to see where I am in 60 days.  Look out world!

I invite you to give my 5-Step process a try and then share with me your personal experience on your way to defining your WHY behind your WHAT!

Many Blessings, Jenn

You are "ONE WORD" away from living the life God meant for you to live.

You are ONE WORD Away....

So what is the ONE WORD Phenomena all about? Here is a quick Summary of the Process outlined in the book, "One Word - that will change your life".

"1. Prepare your Heart by Checking In:  Ask yourself...What do I need?...What's in my way?...What needs to go?

2. Discover your Word by Looking Up:  Get a God Word not a Good Word.

3. Live your Word by Looking Out:  Keep your word front and center and spread your word by sharing it with others."

To really benefit from the process - you MUST read the book, it's only a 45 minute read.  After I read the book, I spent 2 hours working through the exercises.  At first I thought my ONE WORD was LOVE. After living with my word for a few days, I realized it wasn't working for me completely.  So I went back and worked through the exercises one more time and after deep prayer, I discovered my ONE WORD.....
MIRACLE.

HOW do I know for sure that my ONE WORD is MIRACLE?
When you choose your ONE WORD it's important to test it against all 6 dimensions of your life. And this time when I
checked in with all 6 - MIRACLE fit.

I would love to share with you how the word MIRACLE impacts my goals in all 6 dimensions of my life?

Spiritual Impact: Spend REAL time daily with God. Open my heart to His message and guidance.
Physical Impact: A cure for ALS.  Trust God can do the impossible.
Emotional Impact: Believe I can positively and miraculously help others through my disease. Stop allowing ALS to determine my possibilities and potential.
Relational Impact: Inspire others to embrace and love who they are and discover their God-given gift that is at the center of their purpose.  Connect others.
Mental Impact: Make a personal mind shift: Be strong. Be Positive. Think Possibility. Have Faith.
Financial Impact: Create a solid financial plan that helps the ones I love achieve their dreams.

I have only begun my process and can't wait to see how my life adjusts to my MIRACLE MOVEMENT throughout 2016.  Please share your ONE WORD and how you believe your ONE WORD will change your life in 2016!

Helping 20,000 Women LEAP into their Best LIFE!

December is the Month to Celebrate the Amazing YOU!

Embrace your Greatness...Spend time in Reflection...Pray Furiously...and Clear Away Anything Taking Space in Your Life That's Not Serving You.

5 Quick Tips to Help you Make Space for Something New in 2016.
1. Appreciate the wonderful you.
2. Align your life with what’s most important to you.
3. Celebrate and appreciate your wins. Keep a daily journal of your successes and refer to it frequently when making decisions. Reading your positive experiences will give you confidence when making important decisions.
4. Surround yourself with your success.  Frame your certificates and display your trophies.
5. Unburden your mind with the weight of incomplete thoughts, difficult decisions, disorganized areas, or a forgiveness that is long overdue. It will make room for the abundance you deserve.

Elizabeth Gilbert says it best in her book, "Big Magic"....
"And you have treasures hidden within you - extraordinary treasures - and so do I, and so does everyone around us. And bringing those treasures to light takes work and faith and focus and courage and hours of devotion, and the clock is ticking, and the world is spinning, and we simply do not have time anymore to think so small."

Enjoy a Blessed December! Jenn

1. Deepen your faith in yourself!
2. Dare yourself to try something new every day!

HELP! How to Navigate Through Life's Hectic Responsibilities

HELP!  How to Navigate Through Life’s
Hectic Responsibilities

Recently I received an email from one of my clients - let’s call her Suzanne.  She mentioned that she was extremely overwhelmed in her life and needed to set a time to meet with me.

Suzanne’s exact words were,  “I am trying to figure this all out..... It seems I am making time for everything but not making time for me!!!!   My schedule has been crazy busy and I have been out of the office more than in!!! Jenn, I am feeling pulled in many directions.  Having THINK TIME...... to soul search and redefine is more important to me than trying to fill up every hour in my day. I can’t continue living like this! Can you help?”

This is not the first time I have heard this concern.  And it was the desperate nature of her cry for help that inspired me to develop a process to help my clients navigate through their overwhelming life responsibilities.  I know the process will continue to evolve. I have identified 7 steps.

The 7-Steps to Move Your Hectic Life from Frenzy to Freedom
1. What exactly are you doing?  List every life/business responsibility you currently have.

2. Prioritize.  List your responsibilities from the most important to the least important.

3. Where does the time go? Determine how much time you spend or want to spend on each responsibility.

4. Add them up. What is the total number of hours you are currently spending on your complete list of responsibilities?

5. Evaluate.  Analyze each responsibility thoroughly.  Determine what pieces and parts can be delegated and which activities need a more efficient system to run more effectively.

6. Eliminate.  If the total number of hours you determined in step 4 is more than you can handle without stress – even after delegation or system creation (step 5) – then it's time to start eliminating. Begin with the least important responsibilities and move up to the most important. Eliminate until the total number of hours is doable and supports and inspires you and your dreams.

7. Game Plan.  Now that you have eliminated, delegated and/or set up systems, it’s time to set goals within each responsibility.  Address one responsibility at a time. Choose a time frame – 2-4 weeks – to work on the first area and then move on to the next.  Make sure all of your choices, actions and goals align with your values and your life mission. Use accountability to keep you on track.

I can’t wait to hear what you think! Take a moment to leave a comment on how you think this process will work for you.  If you are enjoying what you are reading visit my website at www.sonowcoaching.com.

Act As If

ACT AS IF

One of the principles that Jack Canfield teaches, is “Act as if.”  Act as if you are already where you want to be.  That means thinking like, talking like, dressing like, acting like, and feeling like the person you will become after you have achieved your goals.

In fact, Canfield created the Come as You Will Be, Party.  “At the party you are to arrive as who you will be 5 years from now.  Dress your best.  Speak only in the present tense the entire evening, as if it is already 2020 and all your goals have been achieved and all your dreams have already come true.  Bring props to show everyone what you have achieved in the years between, such as bestselling books you’ve written, magazine covers you’ve been on, awards you’ve won, and photographs or scrapbooks of your achievements.  Throughout the evening you will have the opportunity to applaud others in their achievements and to receive congratulations for yours.”

Jack’s “party” idea made me stop and think about how I would want to show up at a “Come as You Will Be….in 2020” Party.   After much reflection, I decide I would show up as a an ALS survivor, a best selling author founding the #1 women’s networking organization and the #1 life coach training program.  With that step complete, I proceed to the next step – actually attending a party as me in 2020.  Since I don’t have a live party to attend yet, I decide to visualize the entire process for right now.

Visualizing my “Come as You Will Be….in 2020” party….
·      Where is my party?  My party is at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Naples, FL.

·      Who is at my party?  All of my children and their spouses, grandchildren, husband, siblings, and parents are here along with all of my friends.

·      How will I act?  I am acting confident, carefree and peaceful.  I am sharing all the details around the risks I took to be part of a successful ALS clinical trial.  And how we purchased a riverfront home to celebrate the years we now have together since my disease went into remission 4 years ago.  I show my peers a copy of my new bestselling mystery novel and share with them how inspiring my book tour was.  I proudly announce that the So Now Professional Network for Women, which I founded 10 years ago, has grown like crazy and now prospers in 14 states.

·      What will I wear?  I am wearing a flowing long dress in black and white silk satin, beautiful jewelry, photos of my book cover are clenched in my hand and I am wearing my So Now logo pin.  My husband is escorting me around proudly.  I am fit and healthy.

·      How will I think?   Philippians 4:13 summarizes how I am thinking perfectly.  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

I am not listening to the people that say under their breath, “It just breaks my heart when I see her.”  Because instead, they are saying,  “It inspires my heart when I see her”.

·      What will I talk like?  I will communicate from a grateful heart and be present for every moment.  I will use future focused vocabulary and talk excitedly about the wonderful possibilities in store for my family, everyone I meet and myself.  I am confident that my next 5 years will be as wonderful as my past 5 years.

·      How will I feel?  Accomplished.  Happy.  Fulfilled.  Complete.  Faithful.  Inspired.  Connected.  Appreciated.  Successful.  Wow!

Two days after my, “Come as you will be, Party” visualization what am I experiencing?
I am not sure if my visualization process is as effective as actually attending a “Come as you will be” party – which I will be planning soon – but I must admit that I am noticing small shifts in my mindset.  I am more positive, future-oriented, hopeful and my goals feel more doable!  I will continue to visualize my “Come as you will be in 5 years” me – and actually act it out the best I can each day – for 21 days.  I will post my mind shifts and any new perceptions and accomplishments as they come up. I am excited to see what happens!

If you were invited to a “Come as you will be…in 2020” party, please share how you would like to show up. How you will be acting and feeling.  What you will be wearing and talking like.  Or plan your own “party” and document your results – right here.
