Helping 20,000 Women LEAP into their Best Life!

This is YOUR YEAR!
Are you celebrating your successes?

"Our essential purpose is to become the-best-version-of-ourselves....Once we discover it and place this purpose at the center of our lives, everything begins to make sense.  Until we discover our essential purpose, nothing makes sense, and we wander around aimlessly, slowly being numbed into lives of quiet desperation."  - The Rhythm of Life by Matthew Kelly

WOW...such powerful advice.  I'm in the process of reading Kelly's book and I can't seem to put it down. Kelly goes on to say that there are "FOUR simple steps that will empower you to make a difference in other people’s lives and lead you along the path of greatness.

STEP ONE When you wake up tomorrow morning, remind yourself of your goal, your point B, your essential purpose—to become the-best-version-of-yourself.
STEP TWO The next step is to ask yourself, “Whose day can I make today?”
STEP THREE Now ask yourself, “How can I make that person’s day?”
STEP FOUR When you have made these first three steps, shower and have breakfast, but then, just before racing into the day, take a few minutes to plan, reflect, and pray. Find a quiet place, and in that silence visualize how you would like your day to unfold. Make plans to fulfill your legitimate needs physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. Take a moment to become aware of, and to appreciate, all you have and all you are, and then you will be ready for the day."

I can't wait to incorporate all FOUR steps into my daily life.

Many Blessings, Jenn

September Leadership Tip

"What Makes a Great Leader?
7 Pros Share Their Views"

By Nicole Fallon Taylor, Business News Daily Assistant Managing Editor, March 15, 2016

"Throughout history, much has been written about what it means to be a leader. Ancient Chinese military general and "Art of War" author Sun Tzu described a leader as one who "cultivates the moral law, and strictly adheres to proper methods and discipline." Nineteenth-century historian Thomas Carlyle believed leaders were born and not made, while English philosopher Herbert Spencer argued that leaders were the result of the society in which they lived.
The decades that followed brought countless studies and research reports that detailed a wide variety of leadership skills, styles and characteristics, with researchers identifying distinct leader "types." Some authors even devoted their work to all the personal factors that influence an individual's approach to management.
With all of these differing schools of thought, it's clear that there's no single definition of leadership. What works for one leader may not necessarily work for another, depending on the circumstances and personality type. But there's one thing that nearly every academic, historian and even leaders themselves agree upon: A true leader must be able to inspire his or her team.

Business News Daily spoke with current business leaders about what leadership means to them, and how leaders can achieve the ultimate goal of inspiring others."

Helping 20,000 Women LEAP into their Best Life!

This is YOUR YEAR!
Are you celebrating your successes?

Earlier in the year I choose one word to represent my focus for 2016.  I chose the word: Miracle.

How has miracle shown up for me so far this year?
1.  A very close friend said "YES" to becoming our brand new COO for the So Now Professional Network for Women.
2.  My entire family took a trip of my lifetime to the Outer Banks.
3.  My husband and I were able to purchase the lakefront home of our dreams.
4.  My daughter accepted a job in Chicago and will now live closer to her mama.
5.  Friends from all parts of my life showed up to pack up and move us into our new home.
6.  My husband cheerfully cares day in and day out for all of my needs as my disease progresses.
7.  I was able to get on an airplane and fly to San Juan for a vacation with my best friend.
8.  A very good friend was cured of cancer.
9.  Another friend's sister is now in remission after she was told she only had months to live.
10. I learned how to play bridge.
11. I participated in a mastermind CONSISTENTLY for 3 months.
12. I celebrated my 62nd birthday with wonderful family and friends.
13. I have almost completed reading "Bible in a Year".
14. I am putting the finishing touches on my mystery novel.
15. My mother DAILY provides for me and my family from heaven.
16.  And the list goes on and on.

Why is this list of abundance and miracles significant?  The bigger question is....Were these the miracles I was looking for? Selfishly, I have to admit, no.  I wanted a cure for ALS!

What am I discovering?
The narrow definition of MIRACLE that I had pictured in my mind  was keeping me from fully recognizing and appreciating the miracles happening every day -- right before my eyes.  Silly me.  I am looking forward to the last 4 months of 2016.  I can't wait to FULLY be a part of the miracles that are waiting for me!

Take time out to reflect on your miracles from the past 8 months - I'm sure you will be amazed!

Many Blessings, Jenn

Have you ever asked yourself, “Why do I do this?”
It’s because it’s a habit. Go on, admit it and say it aloud, you are a procrastinator.
If it’s any comfort, you’re not the only one. Just about everyone procrastinates. Sometimes that’s good, but mostly it’s an insidious, chronic malaise that will cripple your future.

"5 Powerful Tips For Female Professionals Who Want To Own The Table, Not Just Have A Seat"
by Erica Nicole Founder and Publisher, YFS Magazine
JUNE 13, 2016

"As a millennial entrepreneur, I was once asked by a journalist about the challenges of being young, African-American and female. Admittedly, I was taken aback; in my career — I’ve grown a “one-woman” startup blog into a leading global business media platform — none of these perceived challenges ever held me back. I was simply executing on my vision.
“I see it as a triple-threat,” I replied with a laugh, “certainly not a challenge.” While she applauded my gusto, our conversation made me keenly aware of gender parity. She, like many others, still saw my success and advancement in media as an outlier.
I get it.
The U.S. Department of Labor says that in 2014 57 percent of working-age women participated in the labor force, compared to 69 percent of men. Writing for the McKinsey Global Institute, Laura Tyson reports that, “Women continue to lag behind men in economic participation and opportunity by 15 to 25 percent.”
Tyson, a former chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors, went on to suggest that “taking bold actions now to increase the economic participation and advancement of women is critical to ensuring a strong foundation for rising prosperity in the long run.” I couldn’t agree more.
So how do we, the leaders, entrepreneurs and professional game-changers, boldly and pragmatically normalize what it means to be a woman in our respective industries? Can we truly get past being the “first woman to do X”? Here’s a refreshing approach every woman can take, both personally and professionally, to claim a seat at the table, and even own it if you dare."
