HELP! How to Navigate Through Life's Hectic Responsibilities

HELP!  How to Navigate Through Life’s
Hectic Responsibilities

Recently I received an email from one of my clients - let’s call her Suzanne.  She mentioned that she was extremely overwhelmed in her life and needed to set a time to meet with me.

Suzanne’s exact words were,  “I am trying to figure this all out..... It seems I am making time for everything but not making time for me!!!!   My schedule has been crazy busy and I have been out of the office more than in!!! Jenn, I am feeling pulled in many directions.  Having THINK TIME...... to soul search and redefine is more important to me than trying to fill up every hour in my day. I can’t continue living like this! Can you help?”

This is not the first time I have heard this concern.  And it was the desperate nature of her cry for help that inspired me to develop a process to help my clients navigate through their overwhelming life responsibilities.  I know the process will continue to evolve. I have identified 7 steps.

The 7-Steps to Move Your Hectic Life from Frenzy to Freedom
1. What exactly are you doing?  List every life/business responsibility you currently have.

2. Prioritize.  List your responsibilities from the most important to the least important.

3. Where does the time go? Determine how much time you spend or want to spend on each responsibility.

4. Add them up. What is the total number of hours you are currently spending on your complete list of responsibilities?

5. Evaluate.  Analyze each responsibility thoroughly.  Determine what pieces and parts can be delegated and which activities need a more efficient system to run more effectively.

6. Eliminate.  If the total number of hours you determined in step 4 is more than you can handle without stress – even after delegation or system creation (step 5) – then it's time to start eliminating. Begin with the least important responsibilities and move up to the most important. Eliminate until the total number of hours is doable and supports and inspires you and your dreams.

7. Game Plan.  Now that you have eliminated, delegated and/or set up systems, it’s time to set goals within each responsibility.  Address one responsibility at a time. Choose a time frame – 2-4 weeks – to work on the first area and then move on to the next.  Make sure all of your choices, actions and goals align with your values and your life mission. Use accountability to keep you on track.

I can’t wait to hear what you think! Take a moment to leave a comment on how you think this process will work for you.  If you are enjoying what you are reading visit my website at www.sonowcoaching.com.
